In partnership with North Carolina Fire and EMS, Chazak medical personnel responded to an evacuation request for two elderly female patients, one of whom needed supplemental oxygen. In response, the team braved 8 miles of severely damaged roads on all-terrain vehicles to reach them. Upon arriving, it was found the women’s last solid meal was four days prior. Our responders supplied supplemental oxygen to the patient and commenced the return journey. Both patients were safely transferred to the excellent care of local Fire and EMS.
After four days of being shut in their homes, the woman’s emotional response to the flood damage was heart-breaking. On the ride to safety, they discovered many of the buildings of their beloved town had been destroyed or swept away.

With rescue efforts complete, the work in North Carolina has transitioned into the cleanup phase, supported by organizations such as Plain Compassion Crisis Response. However, we are still accepting donations for supplies which will be directed to entities who will remain at the scene.
